Holiday Festivities in Civic Center

The Civic Center Plaza Tree may now be illuminated, but that doesn’t mean the Civic Center holiday activities are over! Check out what’s coming up:

Mayor London Breed’s Holiday Fair (December 15, 10am-2pm; free, open to all) San Francisco City Hall will become Santa’s workshop, featuring a letter writing station for lists to be sent to the North Pole, photos with Santa, balloon animals, face painting, and festive entertainment: carolers and the Tap Dancing Christmas Trees will perform in the Rotunda. Adjacent to City Hall, there will be activities and performances at the Winter Park Ice Rink, a 16-passenger train on Grove Street, and a holiday train display at the Main Branch of the San Francisco Public Library.

Civic Center Community Benefit District Holiday Fanfare Concerts (December, various dates and times, see link for exact times; free) Don’t miss these festive District sidewalk concerts from San Francisco Conservatory of Music Brass Quartet musicians during the month of December. Happening adjacent to the Henry Moore statue on Van Ness at Grove, stop by and enjoy the music as you do you holiday shopping, go to dinner or lunch, or before a show at one of the world renowned arts venues in Civic Center.

Winter Park Ice Rink (Through January 5, 2020) The ice rink and track in Civic Center Plaza is modeled after the internationally-famed Wiener-Eistraum, an ice rink located in the City Hall Square of Vienna, Austria. Special events include curling classes, food drives and dance parties. Learn more about rink hours, classes and events on their site.

City Hall Pop-Up Holiday Shop (December 10, 11am-5pm; free to attend) in City Hall North Light Court: Over 50 local makers and manufacturers will have stands where the public can purchase their goods; live music, raffle, sweets.

More to come, check back soon!
